Generally, local anaesthesia is used to numb the area and an appropriate amount of tissue is removed to reduce the size of the fold as well as make it symmetric. The closure is done with stitches.
The patient is discharged on the day of the surgery itself. She will be asked to come for follow up in the coming days. She is counselled that some amount of swelling and pain is expected which will gradually reduce with time.
